Representing the Earth is making it a project. The image of the world has determined the action we have allowed ourselves to take. It was with the Versailles of Louis XIV that the transition from the map to the globe took place. It was customary to use globes in pairs: celestial globe and terrestrial globe. How can the world be represented today? Mapping is a question of the gaze, the landscape and the artificial. What we can represent is what we can control. Cartography has been an instrument of conquest.

What use is it today? The globe toois a symbol of the École de Versailles and is at the heart of its concerns, being the scale to which it permanently refers both at the theoretical and project levels.

The students will create a representation of the world on two blanks, inflatables globes of very large dimensions (10m in diameter). A celestial globe and a terrestrial globe.
